Executive Board

The Executive Board consists of four elected student members who are just like you. Working in collaboration with TKUSA’s Executive Director and staff, they develop the strategic plan and work throughout the year to advocate for you and achieve their goals to move our organization forward.

Alyssa Martinson

President

Third-year, Faculty of Arts- PHE major

This is my third year with TKUSA, and I am eager to continue serving students alongside such a passionate team. I look forward to strengthening relationships within our community through collaboration on campus while also capitalizing on external advocacy opportunities.

FUN FACTS: I love Jesus, people, and serving. When I’m not at King’s, you can often find me at church living it up as a Youth Leader.

Ava Griffioen

VP Internal

Third-year, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences – Chemistry and Biology.

I wholeheartedly love King’s and feel that this is where I am meant to be. Because of that, I want to be able to make King’s the best place it can possibly be for all the students that attend. I want to be involved in the governance of our school and be able to voice what we, as Students, believe the direction we should be moving in is.

FUN FACT: I am an avid reader of poorly written romance novels. And will happily talk your ear off about my current book.

Minji Kang

VP EXTERNAL

Fourth-year, Faculty of Arts -PHE major

This year, I am looking forward to creating welcoming spaces for students to enhance diversity and inclusivity within our organization. It is imperative that the voices of students with various identities, backgrounds, and experiences are heard and equally valued when we advocate for student interests.

FUN FACT: If my life was a Taylor Swift album, I’d be in my Speak Now era (Taylor’s Version).

    Rochelle Beekman

    VP STUDENT SERVICES

Second-year, Faculty of Science – Biology Major

I am so grateful for the opportunity to represent you as an SA executive. My passion for working on the SA stems from a desire to contribute to and continue the amazing community I discovered at King’s. The pantry program, which I am working to expand this year, as well as our clubs’ program, are two of my favourite SA endeavours. Although, Battle of the Bands is fun too. Please come introduce yourself when you see me around; I would love to get to know you!

FUN FACTS: During my free time I love to swing dance, coach figure skating, and shoot my bow and arrow.

    HOW DO EXECUTIVES GET ELECTED?

To run for the executive board position, you must be a full-time or part-time student at The King’s University in good academic standing, and a registered student in March of the school year prior.

Executive Board nominations open in late February for the March election. Students interested in running for a position are encouraged to talk to the Executive Director or any of the current executives on the board to learn more.
